For years I have worked sitting at my computer for eight to ten hours a day, sometimes even longer.
I suffered back pain and general physical discomfort among a whole range of problems caused by prolonged sitting. At the end of my work day my whole body would hurt, and I felt stiff and worn out. I made sure to take frequent breaks, to stand and to stretch, but that wasn’t enough.
Ever since I started working at the stand my situation has improved immeasurably. My back pain has vanished and I no longer feel numb at the end of a day’s work. Moreover, I am more alert and focused during the day, no longer hunched over my computer, and have stopped looking for any and every excuse to get up. I am more efficient, and most important, I suffer much less from my long work days.
Most significant and surprising, working at the stand has helped immensely to reduce the stomach problems that have plagued me for many years. I never would have thought that there was a connection between “Irritable Bowel Syndrome,” that has made my life so miserable, and sitting all day, but the results prove that there is. I am now so accustomed to working standing up that I have even improvised a stand to work on at home.
I wholeheartedly recommend the stand, which I think is a comfortable and effective alternative for anyone who works long hours sitting at a computer.
